The rapid development of tourism for "silver customers" is one of the steady trends in the world travel market. The demand for tours on the part of our "silver customers", and first of all for tours inside our country, has begun to grow, all the more so because people with a much greater taste for travel are approaching this age. The needs of modern tourists of "the third age" are various, however, market research demonstrates obvious preferences. The understanding of the requests of elderly Russians and the development of special travel products for them may result in a significant increase in the share of this travel market segment, more precise determination of the quality of accommodation facilities, solving the seasonality problem.

Panel discussion: Moscow as the main center of attraction for business events

Moderator: Tatiana Anisimova, expert of the congress and exhibition industry

Experts:

Vadim Zelensky, Chairman of Russian association of business travel, founder of Zelenski Group of Companies

Artem Chernyshov, Director of MITT

Svetlana Plieva, General director of MAKO

In 2017 the gross regional product amounted to about 250 billion dollars. The scale of Moscow's economy can be compared to that of some countries, and this mere fact guarantees its investment appeal and attractiveness as a business centre. In order to support this reputation, intense cooperation of the state and the private sector is necessary, observance of the balance of interests of the parties involved. Since business events are part and parcel of business development, creation of a comfortable environment for entrepreneurs in the capital becomes a natural incentive for the attraction of new business events and business travellers to the city.

According to PwC, the floor space of exhibition facilities of Moscow is three times as large as that of London: 0,45 mln sq. m against 0,15 mln sq. m. Moscow is only a little behind Paris. Besides, exhibition venues themselves are not so numerous, but their surfaces are larger in relation to average world figures. What else, apart from congress centres and hotels should a region have in order to host international congresses and summits? Are single quality standards for travel industry players both necessary and possible?

The sphere of sustainable tourism becomes more and more important both for accommodation facilities, and for travelers. The number of travelers who stay at "green" hotels has been growing in the world. As they choose transport facilities, many tourists think of their impact on the environment, and choose public transport, as well as bicycles and scooters to get about the city. According to a research by booking.com, most travelers are ready to refuse from luxury in favour of environmental friendliness. Thus, 94% of respondents will choose rooms where energy saving lamps art used, 89% — where heating and air conditioning are on only when people are present, and 80% — where shower nozzles with reduced water consumption are installed. Experts will speak about global trends and the situation in Moscow, about "green" hotels and other initiatives.
