PIR «Hotel. Development, design & operation». Guide to the world of hospitality.

On October 1-4, 2013 the XVI International exhibition «PIR» took place in IEC «Crocus Expo», it is the main HoReCa exhibition in Russia and the CIS. The event was conducted under the auspices of the Trade and Service Department of Moscow and the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers. More than 850 Russian and foreign companies participated in the exhibition. The number of visitors exceeded 8000 people.

PIR Expo is a large-scale event that unites restaurateurs, chefs, suppliers, investors and all those who want to keep up with the latest trends in the restaurant industry. It is here that the most interesting projects in the service industry, new professional equipment, food products and drinks are presented. Every year reputable market experts, restaurateurs, chefs, directors of famous HoReCa companies take part in PIR Expo. With their help and with the participation of the National Guild of Chefs and the Academy of culinary art «Exclusive» a unique program is formed that includes conferences, panel discussions, business seminars, individual consultations, master classes and presentations.

This year one of the key events was the II International exhibition «Hotel. Development, design & operation», which took place from 1 to 3 of October 2013. Its organizers were PIR Group which has been the organizer of the largest Russian international PIR Expo for hospitality industry professionals for 16 years, the Federation of Restaurateurs and Hoteliers, the Federal Agency for Tourism and the Russian Association of Travel Agencies. The event included a series of conferences, business seminars and presentations.

The Russian Association of Business Travel took active part in the exhibition. ABT was not only an exhibitor, it also prepared a series of reports and educational seminars aimed to increase professional level of hotel industry participants.

On the first day of the exhibition Nailya Panchenko, director of Business and Conference Hotel Attestation program presented her report at the Annual Business Forum of Hospitality Industry of Moscow. In her presentation she pointed out key aspects of relations with business travellers for accommodation facilities and named the main criteria for business travellers when they choose a hotel. The main attention was paid to the presentation of the unique «Business and Conference Hotel Attestation Program»: «The Russian Association of Business Travel has created a unique product that will be really useful for business travellers as well as for travel managers. As for hotel owners, our certificate is a pass into the world of business travel, and for travellers it is a guarantee of high service».

The participants were very much surprised by statistics presented by ABT. Many wrongly believed that individual and business travellers needed the same services to feel comfortable: a TV, a large wardrobe and a spacious balcony. In fact, business travellers pay attention to high speed internet in the room, air conditioning and a safe in the first place. Besides, for their business trip to be successful, they need a place to hold business meetings, as well as a range of services they can get without leaving the hotel or within a walking distance from it. An ATM, a business centre, high speed internet and a good working desk, a concierge, dry clean — all these factors directly affect the result of a business trip.

Sociologic data presented during the second part of the report allowed to refresh information about business trip goals and vividly demonstrated a rise in their number.

Another milestone event was panel discussion «Changes in legislation policy regarding accommodation services. Updates in the accommodation means rating». ABT representatives took active part in discussing hot points.

On the second day of the exhibition the Russian Association of Business Travel held an educational seminar devoted to the search of efficient marketing tools for the hotel industry and online sales.

We are living in online era, so in order to work efficiently and to feel comfortable in these conditions we need to use online facilities and mobile applications to the maximum. Some several years ago social networks were not taken seriously, but now they are an efficient sales channel and a tool to assess client preferences«, Nailya Panchenko noted.

All exhibitors, participants and guests agreed that «Hotel. Development, design & operation» was an excellent place to establish new contacts and to set dialogue between those who are interested in new accommodation objects and those who are willing to offer their ideas of project realization.
